Federal politician death threats: Greystanes man to front Parramatta court over alleged ‘kill’ threat

An Australian man will front court on Wednesday after allegedly making multiple threats to kill a Federal Politician.
The 43-year-old man from Greystanes in Sydney’s west allegedly made multiple threats over the phone to kill the unnamed parliamentarian.
Areas of Greystanes are split across three Federal electorates: Blaxland, held by Jason Clare, Parramatta, held by Andrew Charlton and McMahon, held by Chris Bowen.

In a statement, the AFP said the calls were made to “the parliamentarian’s office”.
“The AFP allegedly linked the man, 43, to the calls and a search warrant was executed at a Greystanes home, where police seized electronic devices,” a spokesperson said.
“The 43-year-old was issued with a court attendance notice and is expected to appear before Parramatta local court to face a charge of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, contrary to section 414.17(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth).”
If convicted, the man could face up to five years in prison.
