Police are searching for nine men after an alleged violent home invasion, involving three armed with firearms, after they forced entry into a residence, assaulting two occupants before fleeing on foot late last night.

The incident occurred around 10.30pm on Wednesday, on Bower Bird Street in Hinchinbrook.

Police from the Liverpool city police area command were called to the scene following reports of an aggravated break-and-enter.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that the intruders had assaulted two individuals in the home.

It is understood a door was ripped from its hinges during the incident which took place while young children were in the home.

Police confirmed in a statement that they do not believe any shots were fired during the invasion.

One occupant was transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The eight other occupants present in the house at the time of the attack were unharmed.

A crime scene has been established as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the invasion.
