An iconic hotel will be closing its doors after 36 years of welcoming guests from around the world.

It was announced on Monday that Hyatt Regency in Perth will no longer operate as a hotel from August 31.

“It is with much regret that Hyatt Regency Perth will cease to operate, but we are grateful to have had the privilege to serve and care for all who have come through its doors,” General Manager of Hyatt Regency Perth Thiva Kesavan said.

Many famous faces have stayed at the venue, including Kanye West who checked in during his trip in 2014 and Justin Bieber in 2013.

The hotel was also used as a COVID quarantine venue where people travelling back to Perth could stay for 14 days before being allowed back into the community.

The company will be contacting customers with affected bookings and is “exploring opportunities for associates with onward job opportunities”.
