IKEA recalls frozen SLAGVERK breaded wheat-based pieces in a 500g after black rubber found in bag

Consumers are being warned not to eat a popular food product from IKEA stores, after dangerous objects were found enclosed in the packet.

IKEA Pty Limited are conducting a nationwide recall of its frozen SLAGVERK breaded wheat-based pieces in a 500g bag.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand issued a recall after “the presence of foreign objects, black rubber pieces”, were discovered.

They warned “food products containing black rubber pieces may cause illness or injury if consumed”.

“Consumers should not eat this product” the recall stated. “Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

The product has been sold in IKEA stores in NSW, ACT, QLD, VIC, SA and WA.
