The daycare centre is believed to be run from a private home in Melbourne’s southeast, caring for a small group of children.

The facility is understood to be licenced and government regulated.

An investigation is underway, though police have said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

The area remains cordoned into Wednesday evening.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
