A two-litre stainless steel drink bottle sold at Kmart and Target is being recalled due to a dangerous manufacturing fault.

A drink bottle is being urgently removed from Kmart and Target shelves following a series of alarming incidents where the lid flew off like a projectile.

The two-litre stainless steel bottle, which comes in both green and black, has been found to have a dangerous fault that causes the lid to shrink when exposed to hot liquids.

The defect has led to multiple incidents where the lid has been propelled off the bottle, posing a serious safety risk to customers.

Both major retailers are now pulling the product from their stores as a precautionary measure.

Customers who have purchased the affected bottle are being urged to stop using it immediately and return it to their nearest Kmart or Target store for a full refund.

No receipt is required for the refund, with both chains prioritising customer safety over standard return policies.
