NSW Ambulance paramedics treated two boys, aged two and four, at the scene before rushing them to Westmead Hospital in critical condition.

Tragically, both boys succumbed to their injuries a short time later.

“Two boys — aged two and four — were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition; however, they died a short time later,” police said.

Firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW managed to extinguish the blaze and subsequently discovered the body of a third child, believed to be a 10-month-old baby girl, who was already deceased.

A 29-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but is expected to recover.

In addition to the fatalities, a nine-year-old girl and three boys aged eleven, seven, and six were treated at the scene and transported to Westmead Hospital in stable condition.

Police from the Blacktown Police Area Command arrested a 28-year-old man at the scene.

He was treated for smoke inhalation and is currently under police guard at the hospital.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The identities of the deceased children have not yet been formally confirmed.
