Large swathes of one Aussie state warned of ‘damaging winds and large hail’ in Wednesday weather update

Large parts of northern NSW are expected to prepare for wet weather and thunderstorm conditions, with the possibility of damaging winds and large hail.

Meanwhile, other states will bask in largely warm, spring-like conditions.

Elsewhere in NSW, conditions will vary from overcast to partly sunny, with temperatures around the mid-20s in Sydney, cooling down by evening.

Queensland

Rainfall persists in Queensland on Wednesday after The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Tuesday afternoon for damaging winds and large hailstones in parts of Ipswich, Logan, Scenic Rim and Brisbane City Council areas.

In Brisbane, it is expected to reach a balmy 27C.

Northern parts of the state, however, may experience isolated showers.

Inland areas, particularly in the far north, might encounter scattered thunderstorms by evening.

A severe heatwave warning is also in place for the Peninsula District, which is expected to last until Thursday.

Victoria

Victorians can expect calmer conditions, with mostly sunny skies and moderate spring temperatures.

Melbourne will see temperatures hover around 22C, with a mild breeze.

A few light clouds are expected in the afternoon, but rain is unlikely.

South Australia

Partly cloudy skies are expected across South Australia on Wednesday.

Adelaide will be cooler than its eastern neighbours, with temperatures around 20C.

Light winds will keep the air fresh, and the region is unlikely to experience significant rainfall.

ACT

The Australian Capital Territory is expected to enjoy a sunny day.

Canberra will reach about 21C, with a few clouds scattered.

Western Australia

Australia’s west coast will enjoy a sunny day with clear skies and warm temperatures.

Perth will see a top of 25C, with a slight breeze.

The northwest of the state, however, could see some afternoon showers.

Tasmania

Tasmania will remain cool and cloudy, with light showers expected across the island.

Hobart will stay cooler, around 16C, with the chance of rain increasing towards the late afternoon and evening.

Winds will remain light but are expected to pick up overnight.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory should expect typical hot and dry conditions.

Darwin will sizzle under 33C heat, with humidity on the rise as the day progresses.

The Top End could see afternoon thunderstorms, while central areas remain dry.
