Man charged after allegedly breaking into home and attempting to abduct child in Araluen, Alice Springs
A man allegedly has broken into a house and attempted to abduct a child in Alice Springs on Wednesday morning.
Police were called to a child welfare report in Araluen about 7am where they were told a male adult had allegedly attempted to take the child.
He was stopped when the child fled and alerted nearby residents.

He was arrested and charged with abducting a child under 16 years of age, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and theft.
Acting Commander Megan Blackwell said the “quick thinking” actions of the neighbours ensured the outcome of the incident wasn’t worse.
“I am pleased to say the child was not injured during the ordeal,” she said.
The man was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday.
