A man has died after driving into the rear of a parked truck on a NSW highway.

Emergency services attended the Pacific Highway at Cowan about 11:30am on Tuesday following reports of a truck and car crash.

Upon arrival, officers established the car had driven into the rear of a parked truck.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 56-year-old man, was taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing.

“A crime scene was established, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced,” police said.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
