Police are working to identify the man.

Resident Valerie Nayler lives nearby and told The Courier Mail she was woken by police cars outside her home.

“I have been here for 50 years, it’s a very quiet area,” she said.

“I’m quite upset to think someone dead is lying over there.”

David Barclay described the grim discover as “nerve-racking”, saying he was returning from the gym when he saw the police tape across the road from his home.

“My wife stays home while I go to work (in the) early hours in the morning,” he told the masthead.

“It’s normally a pretty family-friendly park.”
