Police have so far reportedly struggled to get information out of witnesses.

Chilling details of the attack have now emerged, sparking fears of retaliation.

A Marrickville local wrote online saying they saw “blood everywhere”.

Family members of the victim attended the scene on Monday when a scuffle broke out.

One man was heard screaming “He’s my f***ing brother, don’t touch me,” the Daily Telegraph reported.

Police shut down the major inner-city road for hours as forensic tests were conducted.

Sunrise reporter Liam Tapper gave an update from the scene on Tuesday.

“There were a number of people who were out getting dinner or heading home after work,” Mr Tapper said.

“There were families, and there were other commuters making their way home, who all witnessed this alleged attack.

“His identity is yet to be revealed by police because they are really struggling to get information out of witnesses.

On Tuesday, a police spokesperson said: “Strike force nogales has been established to investigate circumstances surrounding the death, with the assistance of detectives from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.”

Police have called on anyone with information about the matter — or anyone who was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage — to contact Marrickville Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
