Two people were seriously injured in a brazen stabbing attack on a Sydney street on Thursday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Marrickville in Sydney’s inner west at about 6pm after receiving reports of a stabbing.

NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived to a bloody scene on Sydenham Road — near Marrickville High School — where they found a man and a woman who were seriously wounded.

The man, in his 30s, had critical injuries to his face, neck and back. An older woman also had injuries to her neck.

The pair were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where it is understood the man remains in a critical condition and the woman in a serious condition.

Police cordoned off an area in the suburban street, while paramedics were seen treating a man with blood pouring from his head and slash wounds on his arms.
