An investigation is underway after the ‘unexplained death’ of a man on Wednesday morning, with police revealing ‘injuries to the body’.
Police are investigating the “unexplained death” of a man after his body was discovered near a walking track next to Maryborough cemetery in Queensland.
The man, believed to be 40-years-old, was found unresponsive by a member of public just off the Slaughterhouse Road walking track at Maryborough West at 6.50 on Wednesday morning.
“At this stage we’re treating it as an unexplained death,” Detective Acting Inspector Cameron Schneider said.

“Obviously there’s injuries to the body, which will form part of our investigation,” he said.
Investigators are now trying to piece together the man’s movements and whereabouts on Tuesday night, with witness statements and CCTV expected to form part of the inquiry.
Police and forensic teams have not yet indicated whether a weapon was involved in his death.
“At this stage there’s no one that has been formally arrested in relation to the matter,” Schneider said on Wednesday morning.
The grim discovery happened to be made whilst Premier David Crisafulli was in Maryborough for a breakfast honouring local crime victims.

“The incident occurred just outside of town on Slaughterhouse Road,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“It’s obviously deeply troubling when something like that happens, particularly in a small community.”
