An 18-year-old man has been charged after allegedly picking up a young girl and carrying her away as she walked with family in Adelaide’s north.
An 18-year-old man has been charged after allegedly attempting to abduct a young girl as she walked along a street in Adelaide’s north.
Police allege the child was walking along Niven Drive at Paralowie shortly before 7.30pm on Monday when a man approached and attempted to abduct her.
“He allegedly picked her up and carried her a short distance, before putting her down again,” a South Australia Police spokesperson said.

In a social media post following the incident, the girl’s mother said her two daughters, aged four and seven, had been walking home from a playground with their grandparents when her eldest daughter was allegedly grabbed, according to 7 NEWS.
She said a passerby intervened, prompting the man to release the girl.
“Fortunately, a walker on the path nearby scared the man off and he let go of our daughter,” she wrote.
The mother said another member of the public then chased the man but lost sight of him through nearby parks.
She thanked those who came to the family’s aid and urged other parents and grandparents to remain alert.
“This post is to alert parents, grandparents and the community to remain vigilant about your surroundings,” she said.
Following an investigation, CIB detectives arrested an 18-year-old Paralowie man.
He has been charged with abduction of a child and was refused police bail.
The teenager is due to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
