A 51-year-old woman has been stabbed in the neck in an alleged random public transport attack.
A woman has been stabbed in an alleged random attack while on a tram in Melbourne’s south on Tuesday.
The 51-year-old woman was on tram route 1 travelling along Eastern Rd in South Melbourne when she was allegedly attacked by a man at about midday.
The attacker allegedly lunged at the woman with a kitchen knife, stabbing her in the neck.

The woman was reportedly attended to by paramedics after the attack whilst holding her dog, who she was travelling with.
She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
