An Adelaide newlywed will buy a defibrillator for the hospital where her husband died while on their honeymoon in Bali, as they do not currently have one.

Jacob Vennix, 32, was swimming with his new wife Kimberley Fuller, 38, at Pasut Beach — located approximately 30km from Denpasar in Bali — on December 30 about 3.50pm.

Fuller has recently shared an update on social media, thanking the community for its support.

“Jacob was the most beautiful man who cared for so many,” Fuller wrote on Facebook.

“Thank you to every kind human who has sent me messages, offered to chat, lend a hand with the boys and brought flowers and food.

“Your thoughts really lighten my spirit to know there is so much good in the world.”

Fuller then thanked everyone, friends and strangers, who have contributed to the GoFundMe campaign created for the family.

“The money raised will help bring Jacob home and cover funeral expenses,” she said.

“I thought I booked travel insurance but I didn’t and his life insurance lapsed so the money is greatly appreciated to help ease the pressure adjusting to life as a single mum with a mortgage.”

The couple have two children together, the oldest from Fuller’s previous relationship.

“We also plan to buy a defibrillator for the hospital Jacob was taken to, as they didn’t have one,” she said.

Fuller then urged people to be wary of ocean conditions at beaches they are not familiar with.

“Other countries don’t have warning signs like us,” she said.

Fuller desperately attempted to save her husband after he was swept out to sea, leaving her on the shore.

She attempted to reach him in the waters, unsuccessfully using a beach lounge chair cushion in an attempt to steady herself.

Fuller begged people nearby for help, and a local then went out in their vessel to reach Vennix.

However, the boat capsized in the rough water.

An unconscious Vennix was eventually swept back to shore by a wave and pulled from the water onto the beach.

Fuller then attempted to resuscitate her husband with CPR, but he did not regain consciousness.

He was then taken to Tabanan Public Hospital, where he died.

Tabanan Police spokesman I Gusti Made Berata said the area in which the couple was swimming was the “meeting points” of currents.

“They are swimming on the estuary area, right in front of the entry access into Pasut Beach,” Berata told the Adelaide Advertiser.

“The estuary area is the meeting point of current from different direction.”

The couple shared news of their wedding on social media on December 21.

“I took this photo during the last night I had with him,” she said.

“He was the most beautiful human, partner and father.

“All he wanted was to marry me and love and look after me and the boys.

I will make sure the boys know what an angel he was. Now an angel in heaven.

“I love you my darling. I’m so sorry.”

A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson confirmed it was providing consular assistance to Vennix’s family.

Consular assistance can include assisting with funeral arrangements and repatriation of remains.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” the spokesperson said.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shared his condolences, responding to a 7NEWS post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“This is such deeply sad news,” Albanese said. “Our thoughts are with Jacob’s wife, family and friends.”

Foreign Minister Penny Wong also shared her condolences.

“I am heartbroken for Mr Vennix’s wife and loved ones, and offer my deepest sympathies,” Wong said.

“I know all Australians will be thinking of them.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and our consular officials in Bali will continue to provide consular assistance.”
