North Melbourne shooting: Shooter on the run after inner city killing

Police were called to reports of a shooting just after 3:15 in the morning.

A hunt is on for a shooter after a man was found with fatal gunshot wounds in inner Melbourne.

An as-yet unidentified man was found at Langford St in North Melbourne about 3.15am on Saturday. He died at the scene.

Investigators have set up a crime scene around the area, which is close to a train line, a major road and a creek.

In a statement, Victoria Police said investigators are still working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

“Police have cordoned off the area and a crime scene has been established,” they said.

“Officers are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Anyone with relevant footage or who saw what happened has been urged to come forward.
