North Toowoomba: Knife-wielding man shot by police after home visit goes wrong

A 45-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot by police during an incident in North Toowoomba yesterday afternoon.

Police responded to a residence on Ruthven Street around 4:40 PM to question a man.

On arrival, a man armed with a knife confronted the officers, leading to a confrontation in which the man was shot in the chest.

The injured man was transported to Toowoomba Hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Two officers sustained minor injuries and were treated at the hospital.

A crime scene has been established, and the Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident.
