An extensive search is underway near a series of waterholes for a man who went missing while exploring within a national park with his wife.
Divers will search pools near waterfalls in a national park after a man went missing while exploring the area with his wife.
Police say Dominic O’Connell was visiting Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park about 244km southeast of Darwin, on Sunday afternoon.
The 61-year-old was last seen between 1pm and 3pm near the lower plunge pool within the park.

He was last seen wearing prescription glasses with dark blue frames, white shorts with a black and blue pattern, and no shirt.
Mr O’Connell has distinctive tattoos on both shoulders.
Police, including park rangers, conducted an extensive search of the area using a range of resources and will continue checking the water on Monday with temperatures in the area expected to hit 36C.
Edith Falls remains open, although the lower plunge pool is closed to the public.
Police believe a number of people were in the area where Mr O’Connell went missing and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
