NSW Police charge man after woman stabbed outside Alexandria gym in alleged domestic violence attack
NSW Police has charged a man over attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend after a woman was stabbed multiple times outside a gym in Sydney in an alleged act of horrific domestic violence.
The 45-year-old handed himself in at Dee Why Police Station at 7.50am on Thursday after NSW Police on Wednesday issued a public warning that they would catch him.
The North Manly resident was taken to Manly Police Station and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with the intent to murder and contravening an apprehended violence order.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Police have said they believed the man attacked the woman, 39, as she was leaving Crunch Fitness gym on O’Riordan St in Alexandria in Sydney’s inner south before he used a kitchen knife to stab her in the upper body, neck and ear.
He then fled in a grey Ford Focus hatchback. The woman, who was bleeding profusely from her neck, was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
“About 7.50am today (Thursday 9 May 2024) a 45-year-old man — known to the woman — was arrested after presenting to Dee Why Police Station,” said a police spokeswoman.
“He was taken to Manly Police Station where an arrest warrant was executed, and he was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder (DV) and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).”
The man will appear before Manly Local Court tomorrow.
Detectives are continuing to investigate and anyone with information is urged to contact CrimeStoppers.
