Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in a river in Sydney.

NSW Police said detectives launched an investigation after the body of a man, aged in his 50s, was discovered in the Lane Cove River in West Pymble, in the city’s Upper North Shore, early Saturday morning.

“About 6.50 am (Saturday 25 May 2024), emergency services were called to the Lane Cove River, West Pymble, following reports of a body in the water,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

“A crime scene has been established, and detectives have launched an investigation into the incident.”

As inquiries continue police are urging anyone with CCTV vision, dashcam footage or information about the incident to contact Chatswood Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
