Allan Hopkins: Man wanted over alleged child sex offences arrested in NSW after interstate manhunt
A South Australian man wanted over alleged child sex offences has been arrested, bringing a manhunt that spanned four states to an end.
SA police allege Allan Hopkins, 44, committed serious sexual offences against a child under the age of 18 before fleeing interstate earlier this month.
He was also wanted for offending in “numerous other states”.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.After Mr Hopkins’ arrest on Monday, following a public call out for information on his whereabouts, SA Police thanked members of the public and its interstate counterparts for assisting in apprehending the 44-year-old.
On Friday, police said they believed he was in south-east Queensland.
Detective Superintendent Scott Fitzgerald said Mr Hopkins was wanted for an alleged incident that occurred in South Australia earlier this month, but refused to detail the circumstances of the allegations to protect the alleged victim.
He reportedly sighted in Adelaide then in Victoria on May 4, and two days later his Mazda BT-50 use was found abandoned on the Barrier Highway in New South Wales.
The 44-year-old is currently in police custody in Moree, near the Queensland border, but is yet to be charged.
In his address on Friday, Detective Superintendent Fitzgerald called on Mr Hopkins to hand himself in to the nearest police station.
Mr Fitzgerald said that police would extradite Mr Hopkins to SA when he was arrested.
“More information will be provided when it comes to hand,” SA Police said in a statement after Mr Hopkins’ arrest.
