Teen pedestrian dies at intersection after driver allegedly runs red light in Padstow

A teenage boy was hit by a car and died at the scene in Padstow Heights.

A teenager has died after being hit by a ute that was being driven by a man who had allegedly run a red light at a Sydney intersection on Saturday night.

An 18-year-old died at the scene after being struck on Davies Road in Padstow Heights about 10.40pm. Police allege the driver was a 26-year-old man from IIIawong, in south Sydney.

Frantic motorists rushed to perform CPR on the injured teenager after he was hit. However, he was unable to be revived by the good Samaritans and later, NSW Ambulance paramedics.

A crime scene was established.

The driver was taken for mandatory testing at Bankstown Hospital, before then being transferred to Bankstown Police Station.

A crash investigation team charged the driver with four offences: dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving occasioning death, not stop at stop line at red light, and disobey right turn only sign.

The driver was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.
