Bathurst: Man caught behind wheel of car in NSW despite driving ban until 2117

Police have arrested a man who was behind the wheel of a car despite having one of the most significant national driving bans in place.
The man – who has been disqualified from driving until 2117 – will face court after being caught driving in western NSW.
About 9.15am on Sunday, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling William Street, Bathurst, when they stopped a silver Subaru sedan for a random breath test.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The driver, a 73-year-old man, was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a negative result, however, police checks revealed he was disqualified from driving until 2117.
He was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
He was refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court on Monday.
The man was also issued with a confiscation notice for drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (third offence in five years).
