Cabramatta: House blaze under investigation as gunshots ring out in Sydney’s West

Emergency services were called to Cabramatta just before 1am to find a house and station wagon alight.

A quiet street in Sydney’s South West was jolted awake early Thursday morning after gunshots rang out and a fire engulfed a home and vehicle.

Emergency services were called to Wendy Close in Cabramatta around 12.45am following reports of a ferocious blaze. Upon arrival, police officers discovered a house and a white Toyota station wagon fully alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews successfully extinguished the flames, but both the property and the vehicle sustained extensive damage.

Police were told several gunshots were heard in the area, with bullet casings found at the location.

A 57-year-old woman was treated by paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation, while three other occupants of the home were unharmed.

“Police have declared a crime scene and commenced an investigation,” NSW Police said.

Inquiries are ongoing.
