Carlingford: Pedestrian fighting for life after hit-and-run north-west of Sydney, alleged driver charged
The 34-year-old man was raced to hospital in a critical condition after emergency services managed to free him from under the vehicle.
A pedestrian is fighting for life after he was bit by a car before the driver allegedly fled the scene in Sydney’s north-west on Sunday.
Emergency crews rushed to Ferndale Avenue, near Edinburgh Avenue, in Carlingford, at about 12.30pm after reports that a man had been hit by a car.
Once at the scene, first responders raced to free the 34-year-old man after he became trapped under the Nissan van.

“Officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command attended and found that a Nissan van had hit a pedestrian before the driver of the van allegedly ran from the scene,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The pedestrian – a 34-year-old man – was trapped under the vehicle and emergency services worked to free him, before NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him at the scene.”
The alleged driver, a 29-year-old man, was later found by police after detectives launched a manhunt in nearby bushland.
He returned an alleged positive breath test after police conducted a roadside test and took him to Castle Hill Police Station.
Police allege he refused to provide a breath analysis at the station and was taken to Hornsby Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.
The man has been charged with driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period, refusing or failing to submit to breath analysis and not giving particulars to police.
He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday.
