A toddler has tragically died after being struck by a car in the driveway of a home.

Police and paramedics were called to Culgoa Bend, at Villawood in Sydney’s southwest, about 12pm on Saturday to reports a child had been struck by a car.

The child suffered critical injuries and was rushed to The Childrens Hospital at Westmead.

Despite the best efforts of medical teams, the girl died.

NSW Police said officers who arrived at the scene were told the girl was allegedly struck by a car driven by a 28-year-old woman.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have set up a crime scene and detectives from the Crash Investigation Unit have launched an investigation.
