Keli Lane, convicted of murdering her daughter Tegan Lee Lane in 1996, has launched legal action in the Supreme Court suing the state for millions after being denied parole. The former water polo player remains imprisoned under no body, no parole law

Convicted baby killer Keli Lane says she has no information to give police about the location of her daughter’s body because she did not commit the crime.

Lane, 50, has spent more than a decade behind bars and could walk free on parole if she leads authorities to her infant’s burial site.

“If I could help, I would,” she told 7NEWS’ Tom Sacre on Thursday.

When asked why she could not offer more, she said: “Because I’m innocent.”

Questioned if she had killed her daughter, she said: “No I did not.”

Lane has always maintained her innocence.

The former elite water polo player was convicted in 2010 after a jury found her guilty of murdering her newborn daughter Tegan in 1996.

Parole was denied last year because of NSW’s “no body, no parole laws” which were introduced in 2022.

Tegan’s body has not been found.

“The only reason she is still in prison is because of the ‘no body, no parole laws’,” Greens MP Sue Higginson said.

Lane has maintained she gave Tegan to the infant’s father soon after giving birth at Sydney’s Auburn Hospital.

Extensive police investigations failed to locate Tegan or the man Lane named as her father.

Lane, who is permitted day release for work purposes, has launched legal action over her treatment behind bars.

She will be back in court in late October.
