Disqualified driver arrested after being found slumped in car with illegal items in Summer Hill, Sydney

A 34-year-old man has been arrested after police found illegal items, including a sawn-off rifle and cannabis, inside his car.

A disqualified driver has been found slumped in a car with illegal items and has since been arrested.

The 34-year-old Summer Hill man was spotted by a passerby in a car with its engine running for an hour on Bogan St in the Sydney inner west suburb of Summer Hill on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services arrived about 10am and removed the man from the vehicle.

Upon spotting items commonly associated with drug use inside the car, police searched further, uncovering a sawn-off .22 rifle, ammunition, a balaclava, gloves, and cannabis.

Further checks revealed the man had been disqualified from driving until June 2027.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station as investigations continue.
