Driver killed and another trapped in crash on Kings Hwy in Warri, NSW

A driver is dead and another was trapped after two cars collided in Warri, in southern NSW, on Thursday afternoon.

A sedan and a utility crashed on the Kings Hwy, with emergency services called about 5.30pm.

The driver of one vehicle died at the scene and the other was trapped but has since been freed, police said.

A 25km stretch of Kings Hwy has been closed in both directions and motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

Police investigating what caused the crash and other emergency personnel are expected to be at the scene well into Thursday evening.

The 137km-long Kings Hwy is the main east-west road between Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast and the ACT.
