Clair Ryan: NSW police ask for public assistance after teenage girl goes missing near Tenterfield

Police and emergency services have issued a request for assistance from the public after a teenage girl was reported missing on New Year’s Day.

Claire Ryan, aged 16, was last seen about 1.30pm on Wednesday, at Mole River, about 40km west of Tenterfield.

When she could not be located or contacted, officers attached to the New England Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Police and family hold concerns for Claire’s welfare due to her disappearance being out of character.

She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 172cm tall, slim build, with long brown hair, blue eyes and a freckled complexion.

She was last seen wearing a grey Akubra hat, possibly a pink shirt with a black and white skirt, and carrying a pink backpack.

Claire has ties to the Tenterfield, Mingoola, Texas and Brisbane areas.

Anyone with information into her whereabouts is urged to call Tenterfield Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
