Earthquake rattles Boorowa in NSW as strongest tremor in months shakes regional towns

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake has rattled parts of NSW, with thousands of residents reporting strong shaking on Wednesday night.
The quake struck near Boorowa, in the state’s south‑west, about 7.09pm AEDT, according to Geoscience Australia.
It hit at a depth of 12km and was widely felt across the region, with more than 3600 people lodging reports online.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Geoscience Australia has classified the event as 4.4 magnitude, making it one of the more significant tremors recorded in NSW in recent months.
Authorities will continue to monitor aftershocks.
