Three homes have been targeted in suspected drive-by shootings overnight, with police believing the incidents are linked.

Emergency services were first called to a house on Clarence St in Merrylands, Western Sydney, about 10.45pm on Friday, following reports shots had been fired.

A short time later, police were called to a second shooting just a block away on Lockwood St, following reports another home had been targeted.

About 11pm, officers were also called to a home on Monash St in Wentworthville, about an eight-minute drive away, following reports of a third shooting.

Superintendent Simon Glasser said no one was home at the two Merrylands properties, while three people were inside the Wentworthville home.

No injuries have been reported.

All three locations are known to police for alleged links to organised crime and are a key line of inquiry, Glasser said.

An automatic weapon — believed to be a long arm — is thought to have been used in all three incidents.

Glasser said the attacks appeared targeted, but it was unclear whether anyone inside the homes at the time was the intended target.

Police have been told an unknown vehicle was seen outside each home before occupants fired several rounds into the properties.

Detectives are now hoping to speak with the driver of a white Hyundai sedan i30 seen leaving the Wentworthville home around the time of the shooting.

Glasser said two or three people were believed to have been in the car.

Additional police resources have been deployed to the area.

“We have a lot of extra resources in the area at the moment from Cumberland PAC, from our region and Taskforce Falcon, with a high-visibility presence to target these offenders,” he said.

Crime scenes have been established at all three locations and investigations are underway.

Anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage is urged to come forward.
