Eungella: Two men shot, one dead as manhunt on after car crash near Murwillumbah, NSW

Chaotic scenes are playing out in far northern NSW after two men were shot, one fatally, another was seriously injured in a car crash, and another is on the run.
Police have confirmed a man died following the shooting at a property 10km west of Murwillumbah on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Tyalgum Road at Eungella at about 1.25pm, following reports of the incident, with officers told two men, aged 41 and 38, had allegedly been shot by another man, who ran from the scene with a fourth man.

“A police operation is underway, and the road has been closed,” a police spokesperson said.
“Police attached to Tweed/Byron Police District are on-site, and a man has been taken to hospital.
“There is a man in custody, and police intend to speak with him.”
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the older man at the property for a gunshot wound; however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
Police were then alerted to a second incident, also on Tyalgum Road, after a 45-year-old man was allegedly hit by a car. He is being treated in hospital and remains under police guard.
The 38-year-old man walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound, according to NSW Ambulance.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed that two men have now been transported by paramedics following the incident.
“NSW Ambulance personnel treated a man in his 40s for arm, leg and chest injuries after he was hit by a vehicle, and he was the transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital,” the spokesperson said.
“A man in his 30s self presented to Murwillumbah Hospital with a gunshot wound, and he was then treated and transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital.”
Police are now waiting to speak with those men to establish the circumstances around their injuries.
A manhunt has been initiated and police are searching for the fourth person, believed to be aged 37, who they believe “can assist with their inquiries”.
