Former radio sports host Craig Parkes killed while cycling in Sydney’s North Shore as driver remains on the run from police

A 64-year-old cyclist, Craig Parkes, was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on Spit Road in Mosman, Sydney, during his morning training ride just after 5am on Sunday.

A beloved former radio sports host has been identified as the cyclist killed by a driver for whom police are still searching.

Craig Parkes, 64, suffered critical injuries while riding along Spit Rd in Mosman, on Sydney’s north shore, about 5.15am on Sunday.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition where he died later that day.

Parkes most recently worked at a Mosman school but was honoured by devastated colleagues at radio station CoastFM.

“Craig was passionate about health and fitness on and off the radio,” station general manager Sarah Warry said.

“He was always ready with a laugh and a helping hand for anyone who needed it.”

A manhunt is still underway for the driver of a red MG SUV believed to have struck Parkes after it was discovered at a car park in nearby Dee Why.

The car was seen being loaded onto a tow truck with a smashed front windscreen and a crumpled bumper.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
