“We were sleeping and woke up ... we all heard a bang (and) realised there was a shooting,” he said.
The father said he immediately called police.
Nine people were inside the home, including four children, the youngest of whom is just nine months old.
“Luckily, no one was hurt — everyone in the family is alright,” he said.
“A bullet went through one of the bedrooms belonging to my daughter, and my daughter was still in there at the time.
“Luckily, she wasn’t hurt.
“It was really frightening for her, she was crying all night.”
The dad has “no idea” why someone would target his home and believes it could be a case of mistaken identity.
“I have no idea who would want to do such a thing to us,” he said.
“We are good people.”
However, police said they were “very confident” the attack was directed or targeted.
“The occupants are known to us,” Acting Superintendent Robert Monaghan said.
A Corolla, suspected to be the one involved in the incident, was later found alight on Hamel Rd, Mount Pritchard.
Firefighters were called and the car was quickly extinguished and will undergo a forensic examination.
