An innocent motorcyclist has died after being caught up in a police pursuit of an allegedly stolen vehicle being driven by a 14-year-old.
Traffic police attempted to stop an Isuzu D-Max utility on the Oxley Highway at Carroll, east of Gunnedah, when the tragedy unfolded about 7.15am on Tuesday.
It is alleged that the vehicle, believed to have been stolen from a Moree home earlier, failed to stop. Officers initiated a pursuit as the Isuzu drove off towards Gunnedah.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews, he died at the scene.
Three occupants of the Isuzu, all aged 14, have been arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.
A crime scene has been established with local road closures in place.
A critical incident investigation team from Orana-Mid Western Police District will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation is also subject to an independent review.
