Seven men assisting police after being intercepted in Liverpool following reports of planned ‘violent act’
Heavily armed police dramatically detained seven men in Sydney’s southwest after receiving intelligence a “violent act” was possibly being planned
Camouflage-clad police carrying rifles were seen surrounding men near George St and Campbell St in Liverpool on Thursday afternoon.
NSW Police said tactical operations officers responded to information that a “violent act” was possibly being planned.

This led to the armed officers intercepting two cars as part of the investigation.
Witnesses say police 4WDs smashed into the front of a white car during the traffic stop.

Police say seven men are assisting police with their inquiries as the investigation continues.
“At this point in time, police have not identified any connection to the current police investigation of the Bondi terror attack,” police said in a statement.
