Hume Highway: Police operation after multi-vehicle crash fatality closes major roadway near Gundagai

Emergency services have declared a major incident after four truck collided and one driver was killed on one of NSW’s major highways.

A police operation is continuing north of Gundagai following the fatal crash on Friday morning.

At about 1.45am, emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, near Spring Dam Road, Coolac, 18km north of Gundagai, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to the Hume and Riverina police districts attended the scene and found that four trucks had collided.

One driver died at the scene and are yet to be formally identified.

Three drivers were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident.

The Hume Highway is closed southbound and is expected to be closed northbound, between Coolac and Jugiong Hill, and will remain closed for a number of hours.
