Kurnell: Two women die after being washed off rocks at popular beach in Sydney’s south
Two women have died after being swept off the rocks at a popular beach in Sydney’s south — the same area that claimed the lives of two fishermen just last month.
NSW Police said emergency services were called to the water near Yena Road, Kurnell, about 4.30pm, after reports three women had been washed off the rocks into the ocean.
“One woman was able to exit the water and climb onto rocks before she was assisted by members of the public,” a police spokesperson said.

The women are yet to be formally identified.
Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident. However, no suspicious circumstances have been identified at this time. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Two fishermen also died after they were washed off the rocks at Kurnell beach on Monday, May 27.
Police were called to the area near Cape Solander Drive and launched a search involving Marine Area Command, Surf Life Savers and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. Their bodies were pulled from the water a short time later but they could not be revived.
