Leanne Akrap: Woman found dead in Werrington identified, alleged murderer charged

Police charge man after 47-year-old Leanne Akrap's body found.

A man has been charged with the murder of a western Sydney mother whose body was left dumped in bushland.

Leanne Akrap, 47, was last seen up to a week ago before her remains were discovered by a passerby at Werrington, near Penrith, on Sunday afternoon.

Police believe Ms Akrap’s body had been in the bush for several days before she was found, surrounded by clothes and garbage.

Following an extensive investigation, police arrested a 47-year-old man at a Hobartville home at 6pm on Monday.

He was taken to Windsor Police station, where he has since been charged with murder.

He was refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on Tuesday.

Police confirmed the arrested man was known to Ms Akrap but they were “not in a domestic relationship”.
