Learner in a Tesla clocked at double the speed limit on way to driving test in Sydney
A learner driver in NSW will have to wait quite a bit longer to get his provisional licence.
Officers from The Hills Highway Patrol pulled over a 24-year-old learner driver on November 11, 2024 in Castle Hill, Sydney, after allegedly detecting his Tesla Model 3 travelling at 119km/h in a 60km/h zone.
After being pulled over and asked why he was speeding, the driver allegedly replied, “I am on my way to do my test”.

While he returned negative results for alcohol and drugs, he was slapped with numerous infringement notices.
These comprised one for exceeding the speed limit by over 45km/h, one for not displaying his L-plates, and one for driving without being accompanied by a licensed driver.
His learner licence was suspended and confiscated on the spot for a minimum period of six months.
The vehicle’s number plates were not confiscated, however, as the Model 3 did not belong to him.
Naturally, his driving test was cancelled.
