Lidcombe gas explosion: Man pulled unconscious from western Sydney apartment block after black
A gas explosion at a Sydney apartment block has blown the side off a building, with a man in his 40s pulled from the scene unconscious and rushed to hospital.
Emergency crews raced to an apartment block on Clarence Street in Lidcombe on Friday morning following calls reporting a large explosion.
“The wall of that unit and adjoining unit has been blown out,” Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry told reporters.

When crews reached the apartment block, an unconscious man was found, with NSW Paramedics assessing him before rushing him to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.
It is understood the man is now fighting for his life with significant burns to his hands and face.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed.
