A male prison officer is behind bars after being charged with the sexual assault of a female inmate.
Corrective Services Investigation Unit detectives arrested the 36-year-old at the Wellington Correctional Centre, in the west of NSW, on Thursday morning.
It is alleged he assaulted the 28-year-old inmate between Tuesday, June 18 and Tuesday, July 30.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Police say the matter was reported on August 1 and referred to State Crime Command’s robbery and serious crime squad corrective services investigation unit which established an investigation under Strike Force Milton.
The man was taken to Wellington Police Station on Thursday where he was charged with four offences including: three counts of aggravated sexual assault – victim under authority of offender, and engage in relationship with inmate, cause safety risk.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Dubbo Local Court on Friday.
