Man stabbed multiple times attempting to help alleged assault victim in Sydney
Multiple people have been stabbed in separate incidents overnight across Sydney - including a Good Samaritan who attempted to protect a woman during an alleged assault.
The 44-year-old man was on Macquarie St in Liverpool when he saw another man allegedly assaulting a woman in a parked car about 2.20am on Sunday.
Police said the man had attempted to intervene and was stabbed multiple times in the chest.

The 39-year-old woman was not injured and has since spoken to officers, according to police. The injured man was reported by police as not being known to the other man and woman.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 41-year-old man at an address in Rockdale on Monday.
He was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with common assault (DV), affray, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday.
Only a few hours earlier, another man was stabbed after a brawl broke out in Sydney’s CBD.
Paramedics were called after a 20-year-old man was stabbed in the chest with a broken glass bottle when a brawl broke out at Circular Quay about 12.30am on Sunday.
He was treated at the scene before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
The other man involved in the fight left the scene before police arrived.
Both incidents are currently being investigated by police.
