Memorial created for killed Lismore toddler Rowan after allegedly being murdered by his father
The community is rallying to support the devastated family of Rowan Roome, the two-year-old murdered by his father in Lismore on Sunday.
Within hours of it going up, a GoFundMe set up by a family friend to support his mother Dr Sophie Roome had already raised tens of thousands of dollars.
Belinda Olding, who kicked off the fundraiser, described Rowan as “a delightful little boy” and said his “family are devastated”.

“On Sunday 19 May 2024 Sophie Roome’s beautiful 2 year old boy Rowan’s life was taken by his father.
“Rowan’s family are devastated. No child should be killed by those who are meant to love and protect them.”
In a heartwarming display of support, the GoFundMe has raised over $25,000 in just 13-hours.
Ms Olding has set up the page to support Ms Roome in any way she wishes to use the funds.
“It may be for a memorial, donation to a charity, personal use or to assist in trying to affect change to the horror that is domestic violence,” Ms Olding wrote.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, Dr Roome and her family said they were grieving the loss of their “precious little boy” who touched the hearts of everyone lucky enough to be in his world.
“Rowan was a beautiful, joyful and adored little boy,” said the statement.
“He had so many amazing qualities, and his short life was filled with rich and happy experiences.
“He loved music, the beach, swimming, his friends and his family.
“He touched the hearts of everyone lucky enough to be in his world.”
Rowan was with his father on a planned custody visit on Sunday despite an apprehended violence order taken out by Dr Roome against Harrison.
