Merrylands: Three people stabbed, one dead as knife-wielding man goes on rampage in Sydney
Police have taken a man into custody after a mass stabbing left at least one person dead and others with serious injuries in Sydney.

One person has been killed and two others are fighting for life after a man went on an alleged stabbing spree in Sydney’s West.
Emergency crews first responded to reports of a stabbing on Merrylands Road, Merrylands, around 10am on Tuesday.
“Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and were told a man stabbed multiple people before leaving the area on foot,” a NSW Police spokesperson told The Nightly.

One person died at the scene, whilst the other two victims were taken to hospital in a critical condition.
“The deceased is yet to be formally identified,” a NSW Police spokesperson confirmed.
A bystander told Sydney’s 2GB: “I saw a lady and a man on the ground, and I spoke to people close by, and they said there was a man running around just stabbing everyone.”

Areas around a business precinct in Merrylands were thrust into a major lockdown after the violent attack.
Officers arrested the alleged offender on Smythe Street, Merrylands, before taking him to Granville Police Station.
