An early morning inferno has destroyed multiple luxury boats at a marina in a prestigious Sydney suburb.

Emergency teams, including Port Authority workers, marina staff and firefighters, remain on site assessing the damage and working to contain environmental hazards.

“We have been able to stop that fire from spreading across dozens of the boats that are at this marina. So great work by Fire and Rescue NSW,” Superintendent Adam Dewberry told Sunrise.

“Now we’ve got to look at containing all the oils and fuels off these boats.

“Our hazardous materials teams (and) the Port Authority are here on the scene, we’ll have that contained quickly.”

Mr Dewberry warned the recovery operation would take “some time”.

Four people have been treated for smoke inhalation, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
