A mother has been charged with murder after her two sons were found dead at their Blue Mountains home earlier this week.

The boys’ father allegedly found the pair, aged 11 and 9, inside the Faulconbridge house just before 1pm on Tuesday.

NSW Police said their mother, 42, was also found at the scene with multiple stab wounds and spent Tuesday night under police guard in hospital, where she arrived in a critical but stable condition.

She was released from hospital on Friday and taken to Parramatta Police Station where she was charged with two counts of domestic violence-related murder.

She has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

Investigators had previously declined to speculate on what occurred before the brothers died but said they were not looking for any other parties.

Their father, who does not live at the Blue Mountains home, this week expressed disbelief at the tragedy while also calling for privacy.

“The loss of our two beautiful boys has caused unimaginable pain and distress,” he said in a statement.

“(They) were happy, funny, outgoing boys and were very much loved by their family and friends.”

Since the deaths, bouquets of flowers, teddy bears and toy cars have been placed outside the family’s home.

Tributes to the boys were propped against the fence as a photo of the smiling, dark-haired siblings was publicly released by their family.
